borla does make headers for the 2.2L, also, basically any bolt on part that works on the 2.5 works on the 2.2, i have a 2.2 impreza with
k&n intake
borla cat-back
lightweight crank pulley
whiteline rear swaybar 18mm-22mm
front strut bar
ACT clutch
tein flex coilovers
all made for a 2.5

yeah, most everything bolts up, suspension, exhaust, high flow cat, intake, pulleys...the only thing that wont is a header, 2.2s have a single port(after like 98 or something, but thats another thread all together) 2.5s have a duel port, so a header needs to be made for the 2.2, but borla has a nice one, even with the stock exhaust/cats, it has a very nice grumble to it

ive also been doing research on turboing the 2.2, from what i have seen, you can do it with the kits for the 2.5, you may need new heads though, which is good, cause if you put the 2.5L duel cam heads on it will drop compression and allow higher boost. i think, or i may be talking out my ***

borla does make headers to fit the single port 2.2 but you can swap the heads with cobb heads if you go turbo because they should flow so much more(at least looking at them on there web site) www.cobbtuning.com

Is that really Possible (or should i say, plausable)?

yeah, i meant to swap heads to the DOHC 2.5 heads. and cobb also has like an $800 core charge, so us 2.2L guys would have to pay that since we couldnt send our heads in as a core(says it has to be same heads).

CR is not lowered that much if at all because 98 DOHC heads are 9.7:1 and newer SOHC are 10:1 the same as the 2.2(i think thoughs numbers are right but will not be lower than 9.5:1)

as for compatablility of parts on the headers the cams might be the same(have not looked in to this I was planing to buy Cobb cams) everything else should be the same but i might be wrong on that so ask someone that has done this swap or has more knowledge than me

hope I could help

Guys, it makes more sense, and will be more reliable, to swap in a whole engine than just swap heads. More often than not there are oil or water jackets that don't line up properly. If you really want to know for sure what works and what doesn't, contact CCR in Colorado. They are all-knowing when it comes to OE Subaru engine parts.
