Saw the first Neon Turbo in my area
My neighbor's grandson just bought a Neon SRT-4 Turbo. It was the first I've seen in my area - no doubt their numbers will multiply rapidly just like the my suby. I heard him comin' up and down the street taking family members for rides in his new hot rod. One of these days I'm goin' to ask him to take me for a ride or let me drive it - a ride or drive in my WRX wagon in exchange.
The car looked great - even though I don't like the bright yellow. It sure looked fast!
ONE DAY WE WILL RACE.... Just for fun - of course. If he beats me real bad in a drag situation I'll just have to take him to the twisties for a "spirited cruize" - let's see what it can do there = very well I'm sure. If I get wooped, I'll ask him to go out with me on another "spirited cruize" when there is 2" of snow on the ground - I'll win that one.

I haven't seen one on the road yet, heck, i've only seen one EVO, and he was goin the other way... but i did get hassled by a guy with an S2000. he said i'd probly take him from a standstill, but if we were rollin, then he'd own me... i just replied (and we live in Oregon, mind you) "so lets go do it on any one of the 286 rainy days here, or lets go up over a mountain pass (oops, you gotta stop and put chains on, if they even fit...) ; or "i'm gonna go put my roof rack on and take some skis or bikes or the surfboards out; but you can't do that with the softop can ya?" Or how 'bout you throw your buddies in the back seat... uh-oh, you don't have one." so, there you go. I bought the rex cause it does it all, and with style and power and fun. He just has a two-seater with no chassis rigidity (soft top, right) and only two wheels pushin him around... if i put enough $$$ into it to equal what he paid, i'll kick his ***.
aaiight dude, go smoke the srt; later, Bennie

I saw one in boston the other day. I think they are a hot car. For the money and performance you just cant beat it. And the upgrade packages.....260 warrantied horsepower from the factory with stage 3, whats not to love? Glad to see that the americans are embracing what the japaneese have been doing for years.

Good point about the "pimpfactor", reason why i bought the rex instead. At least they are offering the 7 year 70k mile warranty now though. I had a dodge for 7 years and it was a very reliable car.
Honestly though, one of the things about the WRX that is so appealing to me is the fact that it's a hybrid of a Sports Sedan and a rally car. It's a car that's at home on the track or trudging through a foot of snow on wintry roads. I doubt any of these other cars(with the exception of the other AWD competitors) has such versatility.
Even though my 2004 Impreza OBS is my first AWD car, I think it's safe to say I'll never go back to a 2 wheel drive vehicle as my daily driver.

plus.......it's a neon... HI!!

PS.......99% of going fast is the driver.......meet a SRT-4 three days ago in P'burg, NJ and the guy couldn't drive to save his life. we both were sitting at a light waiting for the green and he was reving his engine....so i figured what the hell.....the worst i could do was lose
this guy melted his poor clutch when the light when green......i was gone by the time he was gettin high on clutch fumes.....then as i was slowing down him and his red NEON blew by me!!!!!!

I've seen one take off onto a freeway on ramp, i admit, they are fast and a stock WRX is definitely underpowered and heavier and will have a hard time catching up.

It's crap.
You get what you pay for. Definately a step up from the first neons.
I've seen a few and the nerds that have them can't drive them anyways.

There was a news article I think published on CNN talking about a massive dodge neon srt-4 recall. Apparently the oil cooler on the neon srt-4 fry's around 9 - 10k miles giving it a short life span? Don't believe me, but go find the article.
