Research Paper Topic: Car safety in America **Input Needed**
Hey guys,
I'm writing a 10-15 page research paper for my English class and need some general guidance.
Topic: Car safety, why does America approach it differently than other countries?
Thesis (Still work-in-progress): Car safety in America is known to be inferior to other countries due to the half-hazard approach toward driving tests, popular American SUVs, and the technological advancements that make multi-tasking while driving easier.
My question for you guys is..
1. Where can i go to find out information on other country's drivers license requirements and how hard/easy it is? What is the process like basically.
2. Are there any aritcles, journals, etc that you may know about that would help me brainstorm my points?
3. What are your thoughts about the subject (i may use user quotes in my research paper).
4. What other knowledge do you have that in comparison shows American automobile safety better or worse than others? Share some of your experiences.
Thanks! I know this is a lot to ask for but if some people here and there give their input on one or two questions it'll add up greatly!
Also, if you think you know something but aren't sure if its fact, just post it anyway. I'll be verifying all the information that i come across either way.
Thanks again!
Jon

Poor argument?
If you're arguing that Americas roads are unsafe relative to other countries roads, you may have a poor argument on your hands. Have you ever navigated a mountainous road in Haiti while trying to dodge "tap Taps" over loaded with passengers? Maybe you should narrow it down a bit. For example: Us vs. Germany. You'd have a strong argument then.

For my eng 1b class.

So.. it's more about driving tests in America compared to other countries, how Americans love their SUVs, and how technology these days doesn't help with car safey (ie head sets, ipod dockers in cars, lcds, etc).

"Haphazard" is the word you're looking for, not "half-hazard". Just wanted to help!
Also, in terms of safety technology in American cars, be ready to argue against the advances championed by Ralph Nader in the sixties and seventies.
Lastly, I agree with the U.S. vs. Germany idea from Chrisnonstop. That'd be an easy paper to write.
