Doesn't anyone else hate the fact that they're re-badging a WRX?
Automakers should develop their own F-ing cars, not reap the benefits of someone else's $$$ and engineering. What the hell happened to brand exclusivity?
What next, a re-badged STi sold as a Saturn??? WTF.

It's part of doing business in a corporate world. GM and Saab aren't stealing anything - it's a joint venture with Subaru and the parent Fuji Industries. The benefit to Subaru is the cost of development work is reduced over the life of production when more units are sold under other badges. Simplified, this in turn gives Subaru more money to develop even more neat stuff in the future. Take, for example, the upcoming 2005 turbo Legacy (see Turbo Legacy Countdown forum).
I look forward to meeting Saab 9-2 owners at local meets to share experiences about our cars.

OK, I agree that it will help development, and will ultimately make the car better, blah blah blah.
But there is nothing I hate more than when something great comes out, and it just gets duplicated. And duplicated, and shoved in your face because more people want to make money on it's success.
Its like when you hear a great song on the radio for the first time, then it gets played so much that you hate it. You just wish that it never became popular.
I liked when Subaru's were a cult.

The 9-3 boards I went on before had a lot of owners, many European, that were driving 10-15 year old Saabs and loved them.
Too bad the aftermarket for the old 9-3 was limited.

The new Saabaru is great- as a former Saaber, I'd love to get one, despite the fact that it'll probably cost alot more than a Rex. They would compliment eachother, but I do have my reservations... maybe Saab shoulda commited seppeku in the late '80s instead of selling themselves to GM. I liked 'em more when they had the OG 900 and 99s- the first mass produced turbo. Also, like Subaru, they used to dominate rally(sure it was back in the '60 and '70s).
