I understand the "ignorant/rich" Saab buyer argument.... But, it still doesn't make any sense...

What is Saab thinking? What is GM thinking???
They are using the price tag/name as a marketing device. It's dubious because it's basically exploiting stupid people.

Believe it or not Subaru isn't exactly that popular here. It's a different story in japan, but here in the states when people think of subaru they usually think cheapo econo boxes. We all know better, but the main reason for this attitude is subaru's prices.

So now an ignorant saab buyer may actually get to experience a great car without having to be enlightened about subaru. He'll also "get" to spend an extra $10k.. see these types of people associate the money they spend directly with their perceived value of what they bought. So for these types of people, the extra $10k on top will make them feel better about their purchase. Funny huh?

The really funny thing would be to bust somebody in their saab talking down to a subaru owner.

Saabnet is a good fourm, theres a link if your search for Saab fourms on google. They already know and are pretty damn pissed about it, as they well should be.
