New Member ...Looking at a WRX
Hello,
Im currently lookin at a 02 WRX. Is there any thing i should look further into one this car? I drove it yesterday and it was really nice, its a big step up from my 94 Stealth (non-turbo
)
its only got 13k on it and they are asking 21k for it. Good price range?

If they're asking $21,000 I bet you could get it much cheaper than that. Offer them $19,000 and see if they take it. Still, you may want to look into grabbing one of the leftover '03s for $21,000 or $22,000. The re-sale value increases will make it worthwhile.

I was just about to post a scaulding note about that price...it seems really high. But just checked out Kelly Blue Book (private party) and that price is right in their range...actually a little low if you assume the car is in excellent shape ($21135 for good and $22385 for excellent). Man, my wagon has really kept its value!

I was kinda thinking it was high maybe they could give me 21k and pay off my 3,400 car loan thats left, then ill take the car. Any one know of a dealer near Iowa that might have some more?

Don't spend that much for a '02! You could get a '03 leftover with 0 miles for nearly the same cost. I live in Roseville, CA where the cars are rather pricey, and they quoted me like 22,000 for a '03, which means I could knock them down further.
Do not go off KBB in this instance. You can find a '02 for around $19k if you keep your eyes peeled. Do some homework dude.

Stealthy_C, I have a 2002 WRB WRX sedan and I love it. The only thing I can say is make sure you check the VIN # of the vehicle in question before you purchase it and compare it to this thread:

Some of the '02's had the incorrect clutch installed at the factory. I finally got it fixed but it was a PITA to deal with. Oh, and if the car still has it's POS RE92's tires, get rid of them. About the only thing good that can be said about them is that they are black and round.

Stealthy, if your around the New England area there are some deals here. A dealership I was looking at when I just got my 04 had a bunch of low milage 02's and 03's coming in. He emailed me the other day about an 03 they just got back for a trade in on an STI. It had 16,500 miles on it and he said he would let it go for a little over $18,500. My point is shop around cause there are deals to be had. Just avoid anything that looks modded cause chances are its abused.

Thanks for every ones input. The first Wrx i was looking at i am not going to get, after driving it and then driving another one, the first one didnt feel right, I think it was the clutch thing, cause it would shack while at a stand still. But the second one i drove had less miles on it and was 2k cheaper. And they even let me take the car for the whoel day.. Wow. After talking to them I think ill be picking it up today. Any one have a pic of a STI exauct? I think the previoud owner put a STI exaust on it, cuase its a single 4'' outlet. I looked on the side of it and there is no edged in brand names, I think ive seen a pic of one but not if it is one.
