People just need to settle down and look at the facts. They both weigh the same so either the EVO was a pre-production ringer or mitsu's hp ratings are closer to the whp.
It's funny to see people hate so much on the EVO, don't you i-club members like AWD turbo, rally-bread cars. What you people forget is that if mitsu didn't push and bring the EVO over, the STi might not be here either. Some of you look like real F##K ***** w/ these lame comments. If the EVO is a POS fake rally car then the STi is too!!! But the truth be told, there both great cars. You can't go wrong either way. There both gonna smack sum serious *** w/ @ 2k in mods.
Don't hate on a car that performs = to the car your trying to defend. It makes you look like a brain-washed, brand loyal moron!!!

Stop hating on the EVO. Both cars are kickass. And don't **** all over Motor Trend's name; they are just one magazine out of many. (You didn't really think that EVERY car magazine would think that the STi is the better of the two, did you?) And even in Motor Trend, they even admitted that the STi was not completely broken in at the time of testing and also that the EVO was tested on a surface that was "grippier."
And to you guys whining:
"They only beat each other by two-tenths of a second." - If it was the STi that beat the EVO, you'd be telling a different story, something like, "Yeah, the STi just owned the EVO in the 1/4 mile."
"The STi has better LSDs than the EVO." - More than 90% of you guys will never utilize LSDs. And for at least half of the remaining 10% who actually drive rally cars in a spirited fashion, the EVO's stock differentials are probably good enough to suit your driving. And regardless of the fact that the STi has a few mechanical advantages over the EVO, the EVO has been praised for its superior handling that surpasses that of the STi, despite its rougher ride. (Who really cares about rougher rides? At least half of you guys have probably owned cars that were lowered with aftermarket suspensions that had worse rides.)
Don't get me wrong--I love both cars, ESPECIALLY the Subaru, and I feel that once Motor Trend gets their hands on a broken-in STi, they should pull even better times. (And keep in mind that MT did a FIRST TEST, not a ROAD TEST, where the latter is more of an in-depth review with a properly prepared car.)

Correct me if I am wrong. I readed from Autoweeks website that USDM STI is faster than USDM EVO in straight. However, USDM EVO is faster in the corner, despite that USDEM EVO doesn't have 6 speed trans, ACD and AYC. I really want to see how STI compete with EURO EVO or JDM EVO, which has 6 speed, Super ACD and AYC, I think that will be more interesting.
