Is This A Joke?
I was driving down the main street of my town when I saw that the mishubishi dealer had 2 Evos in. I drove up and looked at them for a bit all while the salesman sat 25ft away looking at me. I looked at the sticker price of 30k and thought "I'd never spend 750 bucks on a sunroof" and started to walk away, it was then that I noticed another hand written sticker on the windshield, it read: "windowtint: $385 CD Changer: $450 Fair Market Value mark up: $7500, Final Price $39K." When I saw this I was perplexed, so I asked the salesguy if this was just a dream price and they'd drop 5-7k or if they were serious, he stated that that was what they were worth. I then told him that about how I can get one for at or below MRSP on Ebay, he then stated that that was the starting bid and they sell for 40k all the time. Is this guy for real? I can go to by Subie dealer and get an STi right now for 2500 over list, why the hell would anyone spend 5k more the Lancer. I'm baffled by this.

Well, that wasn't really the point but I'd lose more money traveling to get the car and drving it home than paying 2500 over list in my home town. Also, if I got the car in my hometown I know the people I'm buying from and they know about me and my car, it makes for a better situation.

markup sucks...
I havn't priced out a lancer but I was at my subie dealer the other day for an oil change and the only STi they got in and had some extras was going for below MSRP.... i guess there's a very small crowd of people that want that stuff around here

It is the same by me. I walked past the Mitsu dealer and saw an Evo with an additional handwritten sticker saying fair market value $5000. Right next door is my Subaru dealer so I went in to talk. They have been selling STis for MSRP. I told them about the EVOs next door and he says yeah, they have been sitting there for months. Meanwhile they have sold 5 STis in about a months time. You would think the Mitsu dealer would wake up, especially with the Sti right next door.

Man, that is unbelievable, what a ripoff. Those dealers will learn when they see dust collecting on their evo's. Both the subie and mitsu dealers by me are offering both cars for msrp, maybe a tad above (like a hundred or so dollars over). I can't afford either right now....

the evo at a local dealership over here was priced around 40k... they said it was pretty good compared to other places which "markup $14,000". He was acting like an ******* just cuz 2fast2furious came out the day before and it was apparently the "hottest car on the market right now" so i couldnt test drive unless I was serious. oh well I would never buy a mitsubishi. He played me off like I didn't know anything about the car either.... Giving this big speech about how it is better than any subaru, including the STi but i knew everything he was sayin was bull****

And what's funny is that the Car is 2fast2furious was an evo 7 and was a piece of ****, they reviewed the cars from the movie in sport compact car and it did 0-60 in like 7.3 sec and 1/4 miles in 15.3. Those numbers are terrible, I can buy a honda accord and beat that, it's all ridiculous.

yeah I read that article... it seems the cars were beat to crap and really weighed down with useless junk like 50lb per door actuators so they could open lambo style and I'm sure all that audio equipment isn't light either. have you picked up a recient model sub woofer latly DAMN those things are at least 30 lbs a piece
