jack the car up

i've been jacking my car up quite some time now, doing exhaust mod and oil change. i still don't think i know the right way to jack up my 02 wrx. i usually jack from the side, behind the front wheel, under the front door, and using jack stands at the same place when i need the front end off the ground. but not only i am denting the side rail, the jack stand also dent the metal underneath, the part with the protective paint. what is the right way to jack up the wrx?

There is a jack point on the car. Look in the manual and it should tell you where. I believe its near the suspension and it should look like a ?traigular? piece of metal. Not positive about location or looks but using the jack point is definitly the right way to do it.

you can jack the car on the front jack point and the rear diff. the front jack point is centered in the front of the car, about two and a half feet to the rear of the bumper. it looks kinda like the bottom of an egg crate, and is about 6"x8" or so. jack the car up using that, and then stick the jackstands under the jack points on the side of the car.
