ive always wanted an is300.
it all depends on what is really more important.
you can make an is300 very, very fast, but it all depends on how commmited you are.

if i were to do it all over again, i'd chose the subaru still, just cause to make an is300 similar power wise, i'd need ~4-5k.

if i had money to play with, like 30k...
id get an is3 over an sti all day any day.

I have driven both cars (I have a WRX and my mom has an is300) and they are nothing alike. The is300 is super quiet and smooth while the WRX has a bumpy ride(if you lower it). IS300=luxury WRX=fun, sporty car. To me, the WRX was and still is my love since about 3 years ago. Imo the IS just isn't fun to drive like a WRX is. It's too quiet and smooth lol.

I don't know how this will influence your thinking, one way or another, but the is300 is a lot like the "mini" and the New Beetle -- 100% sorrority chick or retiree chick car. Every one I have seen here locally (and there are MANY -- Scottsdale is the Lexus capitol of the US, from what I see) is driven by some well-groomed older lady or some chick with her hair in a ponytail and a KAPPA GAMMA SOMETHING sticker in the back window. I live near two college campuses, so perhaps that influences the local crowd, but I've always thought of the is300 as a cute little 130hp chick car. See the previous post about the mom who has one...

Another thought -- the back seats in the WRX are actually comfortable and usable, while the is300's are not. I rode to lunch in a co-worker's is300 (which was his wife's car -- heh!) and I had to jam my knee between the seat and the door to get comfortable and my head was touching the roof. I'm all of 5'10"/190lbs, so I felt that was an unreasonably small space.

Dorifto...

WRX = $22,500 MSRP
is300 5-speed manual = $30,500 MSRP
Difference = $7,000

Give me a 2005 WRX and $7,000 and I can show you a few things as well

haha as a person that drove a mod'd is and owns a wrx id never buy a is

its parts are expensive but its main problem is that the car stock has nothing to work with besides its drivetrain... engine is weak (stock civic si can smoke it) its heavy ect.

the wrx is just a beter car all around to start with
i say dont waste your time and money with the is if your looking for a really street machine
edgar,
