Info on buying 02' M3
My dad is looking into buying a used 02' M3. I was wondering if there are anythings to look out for or any useful info anyone knew. I remember hearing a while ago they actually had a bad engine series in the first new stlye m3s.

the first e46 m3s had a bad bearing or something in the motor. bmw replaced the whole motor. it was the biggest recall in m3's history. just do a carfax report and it will tell your if that specific car is a candidate for the recall.

The first recall affected some 10/01-3/02 build M3's.
However, BMW recalled them again replacing rod bearings in 01's, 02's, and early 03's.
So basically, if you have a 2002, it should have gotten its engine checked out. The engines themselves were not bad, but the lubrication systems caused the engines to spin bearings. Now the problem's fixed.
