I hate this... (high insurance premiums)
I hate this...
Ok ever since about 5 years ago i wanted a Subaru...espicially the WRX when they came out. Im in the military went to Iraq came back, and have just about enough money to buy and 02 for about 18000-$19000. Also im 20 years old, turn 21 in about 3 months,
Anyways so i go and do a online insurance quote from 2 different companies and the damn quote ends up being like $2100, no tickets, no accidents nothing on my record, for 6 months. So bascially Im just saying that my dream car just escape me because of the insurance.
so id thought id just rant about this

are any of those quotes from usaa? if so i'd try at least 6 other insurance companies- one alternative is trying to pay the policy in full. some companies like progressive will discount your policy by about 3-400 dollars depending on each situation-
another alternative is that if you are a homeowner you can get a much more discounted rate if you insure your home-
if none of these apply, try finding local insurance comp- that isn't too big and see if there is like a package deal you can do(incl. life/car insurance) maybe saving you some money-
the fact that you are under 25(high risk category), trying to insure a car that isn't necessarily cheap(which means $$ for replacement parts) just makes it harder for you-

Is this full coverage? or liablity?
and records?
Cauze i have state farm and hahaha im doing my reasearch so i can convince my financial advisor.
when i got my 99rs back in 99 my ins. was just as bad needing full coverage. still have it and am 25 now, it finally dropped to something reasonable. you have 3 of the biggest things going against you when looking for insurance.
1) you are male
2) You are under 25
3) you want a sports car

I paid 13500 for my 02 wrx and all thas wrong with it are a few paintchips and dings here and there. it had 52,000 miles when i got it and it runs great. you can find a nice car for less than 18,000. but if you cant, just get a civic

before I was hesitant to get full coverage on my cars and my bike but i've learned my lessons in getting only liability. im only 23 and i kno i pay a higher premium esp. here in cali. try looking at uninsure motorist if you are going for liability only, so you dont get screwed by other people not having insurance.

Correct me if im wrong but ive heard that if your car is turbo'd they will charge a higher premium on you ???
thanks

the insurance companies only look at Impreza, and what body style you're going for, beyond that (excluding the STi) they don't care. I don't care what you say, a wrx is not a "sports car" it's sport-y and yes its fast, but its not a sports car.
