Angry How to strip Armor All off dash?

My wife had our Legacy Wagon washed at a local "hand-wash" (I can't wash it myself -- stupid housing association will FINE you for washing your car and leaving water on the ground!) and the morons slicked up the entire dash and steering wheel with Armor All -- you know, the nasty-smelling stuff that makes it really shiny.

Well, that Legacy has a LARGE dash and a very steep angle on the windshield, and the sun glare off that shiny dash is driving me insane. And that Armor All unfortunately lives up to its name -- it is really tough to strip off! So far I've tried Windex and some dish soap and water, but it is still shiny as a bald man's head.

So, what other cleaners should I try to strip the dash back to its original finish -- as it is plastic, I'm wary of trying anything strong like citrus degreasers... Any suggestions?

Damn you armor all!

water and a towel will do the trick, I thought i bought the non-shine stuff and it ended up that my dash was shiny and gross, if you get a nice detailing towel and put some water on it and just rub everywhere it will come off as easy as it went on. Good Luck

dawn should do the trick.

you should try Meguiar's version of the plastic trim cleaner and shine. it doesnt leave it as shiny, and you wont have that nasty greasy feel.

Thanks all, Dawn did the trick nicely. I cut it with about 1:1 water and rubbed the dash down with a clean towel. I think I'll tell the car wash to just do the exterior next time and leave the interior to me; they do a lousy job anyway

If detergents strip off wax, why does it say on the wax that I use (blue bottle, forget what it is called -- some german name) that it will survive 6-8 car washes?
