How much can you sell a JDM RX7TT for?
How much can I sell a '93 FD3S RX7TT from Japan (RHD) very cleanly modded (stock turbos, streetport, Power FC) with 50000km's on the clock for here in the U.S? Car belongs to my cousin. It's black, and has some 17" 3pc RE Amemiya wheels.

you wold be better off posting that on www.nopistons.com but don't expect much for it because it don't pass dot standards and can't be registered.

It wouldn't take much to get it to pass DOT though right? It's not like it's a Skyline or something that hasn't been crash tested for the US, he'd just have to change the seatbelts and lights, little stuff, right?
I thought that it was pretty easy to bring over a RHD version of something that's already here. Cars that were never sold here (Skyline, Chaser, etc..) are much harder.

true its not like a skyline. However you still need it to pass dot safty regs. and smog. One for the reasions the US stopped bringing the car here is because it was getting harder and harder to pass epa standards with it. You can get it to pass but it will cost you a big chunk of change. Motorex got its costs for skylines down to 16-20k depending on the car. Now depending on what model RX it was you could propbly get around 18k for it. that also depends on the buyer too. I'd suggest looking at NOPISTONS in there cars for sale section you will get a good Idea of what modded RX-7 go for.

Motorex's $18k charge has VERY LITTLE to do with actual changes to the car man. They crash tested it, so the majority of what you're paying them for is just to sign off that you're allowed to drive it, because ONLY Motorex is allowed to say you can drive a Skyline. They say on their website that the reason the fees are so high is so that they can "recoup their losses" from crashing 8 skylines. It does not cost anything CLOSE to 18k to legalize a car, maybe a couple grand.

I wish that were true, I've called them several times read the q&a 11th one down. http://www.skylinegtr.com/q&a_pg.html there is so much crap in bringing one of those things here.. Yes they were a lot higher a long time ago 1999 when they had to crash test a bunch of each for dot. the prices have come down a lot on the R-32 and R-33. In the beginning they didn't even give the option of the GT-s.
