I want to install a tach into my 95 impreza because it doesnt have one... does it still have the necesarry components to hook it up? all i need to find is the distributor cap/ignition coil right? how do i hook it up to that?

Not sure on the 95 but i remember the 97's and it should be about the same.

I suppose this is not a factory guage to put in the spot it could have been?

Well behind your instrument cluster there should be a capp'ed off plug with three wires coming from it. I'll leave to you to figure out the power ground and ignition. You should be able to tap the wire without splicing via a inline tap at a local hardware store. Wire it up and test.
