AFAIK Jun hasn't run the GDB Super Lemon that hard yet. The video you see on the website was basically a shake down run as you can tell the driver wasn't pushing much at all compared to the Evo5 run.
Also how much longer have they had to tune that Evo5 that holds the Tsukuba record? 4-5 years? The GDB has just been run recently for the first time.

Three seconds is an eternity in Circuit racing and it is a huge amount of time to make up. I will be waiting to see what they can get out of the STi. They are still tuning both cars so the Rex has alot of work to do!!! Also the Rex was slower than the GT-R as well and they pushed the crap out of the car I have the video from option magazine. But back to the main point I am just saying dont underestimate the Evo.

the evo will be badass...I think the HP# is off just like the neon. Manufacturers don't compensate for the larger FMIC. The neon put down 233hp to the ground according to SCC and it was rated at 217hp from the factory. The evo VII in japan "supposedly had 280hp" however almost everyone who has driven one over here OR over there says it's closer to 315Hp, so we will see, I like the red, I may get that color instead of black.
Mine will be here end of Feb.

Doesn't anyone think it is interesting that if the same level of performance was applies to a 2.5 liter block in the EVo as the 2.0, it would put out (1.25*271=339 hp)
That's right, it would have almost 340 hp, and I am sure it would have more torque considering the redline on the EVO is lower than on the STI. That said, I am a little suprised that the EVO weighs something like 3200-3300 pounds. That is a lot more than I was expecting for such a small car. Just my .02

what the hell, im gonna share what ive heard now that evoboy has bumped this...ive heard that evo owners are having serious warranty claim issues and dealers are being real aholes...it is however a great car to own...just as good as the STi, so it all comes down to personal preference/brand loyalty.
Not to engage in any Mitsubishi bashing -- the EVO is an awesome ride, though too darty for a daily driver -- but I thought I'd tell an entertaining Lancer story...
A few weeks ago I was at the mall and walking to my car, and a nicely-painted Lancer with 17" wheels rolls up, looking really good (for a Plain Jane car)... It even looked lowered, like coilovers or a nice 1" drop. Then it stopped and four dudes got out.
I looked again. It wasn't lowered anymore
It was just the weight of the people in the car that dropped it!

If your still reading valaar now that its a year from ur first post and evo won many awards including car of the year on 2 mags do u still think its weak? Or does anyone else think the same as valaar. Just curiosity I am not starting no flames

The Evo doesn't suck. Period.
I'd still rather have an STi (well, technically I'm building one I guess).
to all trolls. Go back to ClubSi where you belong.

Build quality is what I would be looking for in a car of this type. Subaru's tend to be built with a little more attention for reliabilty(Except for the USDM 5MT). I have yet to see or hear of any problems that plague the EVO VIII. Because your going to be using your feet and right arm allot in these cars. Thats why a Neon is not even in my sights, I've heard some horror stories involving the clutch on the Neons. I'd like to see the Spec-C engine available in the U.S. market. 2.0 evo vs 2.0 wrx would be a nice comparision. Remember there is no replacement for displacement. The Subaru has the tuner advantage, so I would go with Subaru based that potential.
