Unhappy Dan Neil trashes the new Eclipse

A sad day for Mitsubishi fans... it seems like the EVO is the last of the decent sports cars from this Subaru rival. I've seen nothing but bad news and negative reviews for the 2006/7 Eclipse and the Lancer; Dan Neil puts the nail in the coffin:

Brutal.

A "sport compact" with FWD, a 60/40 (f/r) weight bias that weighs in at 3,472 lbs... even the Chrysler 300c isn't that much of a tank. You have to love Dan Neil's prose, however:

The Evo proves Mitsubishi knows how to get its freak on, and so it wasn't unreasonable for Mitsubishi fans to hope the new Eclipse would be honed with the same stone.
That dude earned his Pulitzer prize.
