The regular vette has cleaner better lines. The rear vent for the brakes really throws off the looks. Also, the engines is 2 litres bigger than the stock but the performance is not that much better. I can't understand why they don't switch to a OHC and run a smaller lighter engine or boost.

Even though it wont hold the same quality or be as rare as most of the supercars out there, it sure is a great machine for 75k. Carrera GT, saleen, viper...all got owned in the straight line catagory.

Do some research. OHV engines are very small in OUTSIDE displacement due to their more simple design. For example, the modular 4.6 motor in the newer Mustang is actually larger in outside dimensions than the old 428 Cobra Jet of the 60's. Why should the Vett move to a lower displacement motor when its current unit is no larger than the porsche turbo motor, is lighter, is more simple and reliable, gets better fuel mileage, and produces more horsepower? Bash old tech OHV motors like the unit in the Viper, but the new LS2 and LS7 motors are Jewels.

oh... and it's only a liter larger in displacement than the LS2. The old LS1 was 5.6, the LS2 is 6.0 and the LS7 is 7.0

Here's a GREAT article about the benefits of pushrod motors written in Car and Driver. It has a nice comparison between the previous generation Z06's LS6 motor and the Twin Turbo V8 in the Cayanne.

What is the weight difference between the LS7 and the porsche turbo motor (I assume you mean the 996TT and not the SUV)?

I don't know about the LS7. I was referring to the LS6 and the 996TT, and I don't know that off the top of my head either. I'm trying to find where I originally read that (one of the car mags) and I'll post the link when I do. If I remember correctly the compero was an LS6 with necessary components and the 996TT motor with necessary components + turbos, uppipes, and intercoolers. The LS7 should be damn near the same wight if not less since boring the cylinders does not add any weight and much of the added weight from the reinforced components will be offset by the use of more titanium and alluminum alloys in the LS7.
