Interesting.
My friend Tim was skeptical that it would start any higher than $27K because of the base price of the 9-3 sedan. It will be interesting to see GM get its hands even further into a Subaru creation.
Saab body and interior + WRX drivetrain and Powerplant = we can only hope that Subaru enthusiasts don't value their dashboards anymore (anyone else notice that EVERY saab in existence has a sun-crack right up the middle of the dash).
The big three should keep to themselves. *sigh*

I heard that they are also going to make a Saab SUV based on the Chevy Trailblazer. There goes any reliability reputation Saab might've had.
GM better not get too involved with subaru.
I can just see them trying to put a Cavalier engine in the 2006 Impreza.

New Saab 9-2 to Be Reworked Subaru
This kind of sucks. From what I heard, through the grapevine, is that GM and Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) did all of this behind Subaru's back. So Subaru should be pretty pissed. (don't take my word on this though, I think it is just rumor, but it's something GM would do just to get sales back up)

GM does seem to have its influences. Ever wonder how the premium Outbacks have OnStar?
Corporations don't just give that stuff away, they trade product for more leverage. Even though they have a 20% MARKET SHARE(a direct figure from Auto Industry News) in Subaru they could end up with more than 20% of the say in the final package... We'll see.

"Subaru enthusiasts might love to share their soul, but Saab purists might..."
They make it sound as if Saab has a more enthusiastic core group. They also make it sound as if Saab is a better company. As of now, i know of no car that shares the subaru GC platform, so i wish that the wrx platform wasn't given out too. The impreza line is something like the pride and joy of subaru. GM has taken that pride and joy and made it into a second rate car behind the 9-3. This sickens me.
