i am a true subaru enthuisiast ...and my car just about reached its engine modding limits......and i happen to day after day read over my november 2004 issue of car and driver and see an evo pull an 11.6 1/4 mile time on a stock block!!!how impressive......and i rode in my friends evo ...a few months ago...after he got his valve train work done...that thing shot out of curves like it was on rails...yes i must say that car is best bang for the buck...but i just dont like some of the body lines...buit back to my goal...im trying to figure out what would i need to run mid 11,s...i want to get the usdm sti set up....but another part of me wants to rev up to 8g.......so im thinkin about the jdm sti setup that allows the 8 grand redline.....but then again....it only has the 2.0l motor.but the evo has a 2.0 but it manages to run 11.6,s. but how would a jdm sti motor with a 2.2l bottem end work?...that seems perfect...and that can hold an 8g redline.right...i was wondering if anyone with the usdm sti motor is running higher than stock redline if so the 2.5 would be my choice. help i need guidence!

Speed is only a matter of how much money you want to spend. If you really want to increase the redline then I'd say go with lightweight valvetrain longer rods & pistons that will keep the same compression as stock. Upgrade everything from fuel, ignition, clutch and anything else that will help with reliability and function to keep the power to the ground.

well all i know is that your engine cant be at its modding limits, only because if it was to a point where you have modified everything on the engine with perofrmance parts... well for one youd be broke, but two you would be able to reach that goal... but i also know that the evo isnt running 11.6 on stock parts.. he can have a stock block, but everything else is done...
