Not sure , still waiting on a final verdict from insurance , it's a slower process because they are dealing with the police report. Shaggy is technically not totaled just yet . I really don't know =\

Wow, that really sucks. I hope the girl gets what is coming to her, dumb texting or drinking and driving.
Hope everything works out in your favor, one of my favorite wagons for sure.

I'm glad that you weren't in the car when it happened, and for that matter I hope the other driver wasn't injured as a result of her idiocy and learns her lesson. Hope everything works out with insurance though...

yes what everyone has been saying is true, they will *try* to just give you the settlement on the book value of the car alone, though they are obligated to pay on the rest of the property that was on the car as well, but you might have to fight a bit. Is it at a body shop yet? I know a couple good body shops that work with show/specialty cars and will write the estimate correctly so you get the right settlement, let me know if you need any help.

So was she insured or are you going through your insurance? It is better to go through hers if she was insured, because there is no claim on your side.

it always goes through the insurance of whos at fault though if she only had minimum liability and hit 3 cars thats def not going to be enough to cover everything so the difference will be covered by your un-insured/under-insured policy on your own insurance.

No, you are not required to go through the other person's insurance. You can make a claim to your own insurance for ANY incident and then have the insurance go after the other person's company, since these things can take time while that company investigates and tries to figure out what to do. IMO, it is still better to keep it off your insurance info though. I know, because I had some guy's insurance company try to mess with me before (USAA) trying to get me to say it was partially my fault which it completely wasn't (dude who hit me was on the phone) and offer me money before I had even found out the bill for damages to the car and before I got the doctor bills. I talked to my insurance and they said they could handle the claim for me. I told the other insurance company that and they offered a settlement instead.

Same here. One of my cars I had JUST had a full rebuild of the motor, like within 1k mi. I had receipts so they had to include that because my car had was totaled by some doofus who rear ended me while I was stopped at a light.
