36 and 299 combined is closer to 6 hours and doesn't even get you to the lost coast.

Great roads though....

You can actually drive to and from dowtown Ukiah using the Cow Mountain access roads

I'll bet my GF's Outback has enough clearance, but we do it all the time in our trucks

I wasn't talking about ALL of them lol. oh, and you are wrong about not getting close. 36 ends about 10 miles from the northern most access to the lost coast....Petrolia, through Ferndale. It goes a ways south, but does not connect with Ft Bragg.

I didn't say it doesn't get you close, 10 miles might be close, but it is not getting you to the lost coast that's all I was saying.

It is a really quick juant though. It will connect you if you have a 4x4 lifted truck, go right through the eel river (lots of people cross like that). That's the only reason it doesn't connect. You either go to Blue Sly road or over Fernbridge to get over the river.

Yeah, just stopped by from the Lakeport side this weekend, and there's no way in HELL my car is gonna make that!

Oh, and the Hopland Old Toll Road is AMAZING, plus the lack of traffic and generally smooth dirt turns make for one heck of a good drive...

My own personal brain-child was the "Mt. Hamilton Route 66 Rally"

SAT IMAGE: http://www.supersleepers.com/gallery...amiltonrun.jpg

66 Miles from the base of Alum rock to I-5. Then a nice radiator cool down session to hwy 152, through Gilroy, to Watsonville then on Hwy 1 to Santa Cruz and back to the Bay via Hwy 17 or 9.

That's a 3 hour tour on a Ducati!! Scenic, Challenging, Enduring and FUN! Who's in?
