Your AutoX plans for next year?
Based on results and participation it looks like quite a few i-clubbers have graduated from the novice ranks. I've also heard rumblings of people thinking about switch classes and what not.
What are everyone's plans for next season? I plan on staying in STX and further developing my car (if I ever get a job).
It looks like D-stock will be joined by a lot of new folks crossing over from Novice-6 (which it most definitely needs). If those folks decide to stick with D-stock it will probably turn out to be a really interesting class to watch. The Novice 6 boys are already running fairly close to one another and Martin has quickly closed the gap on Lorry.
Cheers, Joe

well...
I thought I knew what I was going to do...
But then again I thought I had a resonably stable job...
I was releived of that problem last night, so my autox plans are in flux right now.

WTH? A few years ago didn't the RS take 1st/2nd in the big fancy national thingy? I thought the RS was pretty good and assumed the WRX would come and just destroy everything else out there... Did I just happen to hear a bunch of stories about really good drivers who happened to be in Subies?
I'm sticking to DS. I don't want to have to blow $$s going for ESP or STX. If I can get some adjustable dampers, that would probably be me sorted. I might end up running R tyres again, but I'll see if anyone else does first - although running Azenis' hurts PAX times.
As far as DS goes, the Type-R Integra seems to be the most competitive nationally. We don't seem to have any running in DS in the SFR though.

I ofcourse will stay in STX. Its just the easiest class to do. You can do most of the popular simple mods, and with more people possibly coming to it next year it should be more fun! Besides I don't realy want to do engine mods to my WRX. With the exception of my exhaust, I plan to leave my engine stock.

Sorry to hear about the job situation Chris. Been there and done that....I know it sucks!
I'm going STX next year, and should have the coilovers (not to mention, new rims/tires) in before the Boondoggle
.
Personally, I think the WRX is best suited for STX. You can do the basic bolt-ons without going nuts. The class limits on tire/rim size happen to be what fits well on the WRX (as opposed to ESP, where you'd ideally want a 275 or even 315 wide tire on all 4 corners!). And the WRX has basically as much power/torque as anything else that is class legal.
For DS, the lack of adjustable caster in front (and lack of adjustable camber in back) hurts. Although the car has certainly proven it can be competitive locally!
For Street Prepared, we're "stuck" right now in ESP.....where as Joe said, there is LOTS of "cheap torque" in the Mustangs and F-bodies (a LS1 F-body can be class legal for stock and have 350-360 ft-lbs of torque....in a car that isn't THAT much heavier than the Rex!). Not sure if the car will end up being reclassed or not.
For Street Mod : I think you COULD make a WRX competitive nationally. However you'd better be prepared to spend the sticker cost of the car (i.e. car cost $24K, spend ANOTHER $25K in mods and development) to do it. And for better or wose, Street Mod locally IS the "cream of the crop" nationally! At minimum, you'll probably need 400 HP (not to mention, a well sorted suspension, rollcage to stiffen the car, big brakes, BIG tires/wheel, fender flares, etc) to be class competitive here.
On a side note.....anyone who is going into or staying in DS want a good deal on some used rims/tires? Stock WRX rims with Kumho Ecsta 700s (225/50R16) on them. The tires don't have much left, but do have a little....probably a few events. I'll clean them up.....rims have no gouges, but do have a few surface scratches. Asking $350 for the 4 rims with tires. E-mail me at Ed_Runnion@RegionOfDoom.com if you are interested!

I am going to try going for STX, may not have much of a choice actually:x
Anyone want a set of used gold P7's? I'll trade for a set of Rota Attacks.. Seriously.
