This isn't too surprising. Back when I was doing software work, most of my co-workers smoked on a regular basis. Most people would be surprised to learn what percentage of working professionals, especially in the tech industry, smoke regularly. For these people, its very much akin to having a beer or glass of wine when they get home from a long day at the office; minus the hangover .

One beer or one glass of wine is not equivalent to getting high.
And, if you're getting a hangover from one beer or glass of wine, you're doing it wrong.

Really? What's different about it? How many glasses or beers are equivalent? And what's your definition of "getting high"? What if someone takes one or two puffs to relax rather than getting stoned out of their minds?

hey guys, everyone is different so let's not let this turn into a debate about substance abuse.

We've all got our own drug of choice, let's just leave at that

Yes, really.

I don't know how much pot you smoke, but at 200 micrograms per
kilogram of Delta-9-THC, you're the equivalent as a BAC .14%.

And that's impaired.

From experience, one puff of 18% weed ****ed me up to point of not being able to function.

I agree...do what you want, just don't tell me that you can "function" better "high."

makes perfect sense. i am in the same boat as Ed here. Some of the "smartest" people I know are heads. The MAJORITY, of IT/Computer folks I know smoke/ingest. Why do you think when you FINALLY get to tier 3 support for your "insert dsl/tech company of choice here" and they seem so calm and collected...think about it.....

As far as comparing drinking to pot, thats a personal opinion that we could argue about for DAYS. Most people are afraid of "drugs", especially ones they havent tried or had 1 bad experience with (said drug). Those are the people who tend to "stereotype" or "pigeon hole" people as "stoners", "pot heads", "hippies", etc. Funny how that works...

i agree, 'cep to a degree, it depends on WHAT you are doing to be functional. If functional is drawing pretty green trees, than I will disagree with your statement....

Huh...I know quite of few high tech support folks...some of them are here on iclub... that are uber straight edge.

Now, if we were discussing the merits of mushrooms, I'd be in complete agreement.
I do love mushrooms.
Especially when tuning.

I guess you must be more sensitive to it than most. There are people who can become impaired from 1-2 drinks, and some who can smoke obscene amounts of pot and function normally. The point is, just because something has a certain effect on you doesn't mean it effects others in the same manner.

lol, well I think people would be freaking out if the engineer doing tier 3 support, who is the END OF THE LINE as far as fixing the problem is concerned, isn't calm and collected.
