i'm actually having a friend take care of it for me. Company has a distributing license. I'll be going off to college in the next week. Sony stuff comes bare minimum. No CDs, no manual, nothing. grrr.. wonder how i'm going to keep all the stuff that came with the comp.

When you slap in the pro disk choose the option to upgrade and it will save your current apps and settings. Back up you drive first if you can or have someone do it for you Windows is infamous with crapping out on you and if you don't have type of recovery disk with apps and drivers you'll be furious. BTW why didn't you get a copy of all the software it should have come with the purchase unless you got it used on e-bay or something.

escaflowne,
don't worry about all that crap they give you. It's mostly worthless. If you want it, I can get you a copy of Norton Internet Securites. 3 month subscription to the updates, then you have to pay for it.
I also have the full version of Office XP (which includes Acess and Frontpage)
Lemme know if you want it.
Oh, I have EZ CD Creator 5, but there is a version 6 out now.

I highly recommend against Norton Internet Securities. You only need 3 programs to function on the internet safely, and it's all free:
AdAware by Lavasoft
AVG Free by Grisoft
and Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta

lol...
the CHP asked the geek squad to repaint their beetles. it seems that looks too close to being a police car (like a beetle is a police car...)
anyways, they gave in and will paint the doors black...

that's hilarious! hahaha.
sweetness.
I talked to some of the geek squad guys the other day. I thought that it is independent of Best Buy, but they have some sort of agreement. Good idea b/c apple support is highly popular... even though you have to call in hours before to make an appointment.

If I ever needed the rest of it I'd use it. It works really well for me. Stop viruses, and pop ups and stuff.

Yeah those damn annoying pop ups while surfing **** on the net.
The main reason I don't recommend NIS, is because it's a program made for more advanced users. The features on NIS are great if you know how to use them, but one wrong click and you've blocked off your whole connection. I've seen it happen many times at my old job where people brought their computers in and NIS was the culprit.

Um, OK- so say this happened to uh- "a friend of mine" who now just disables NIS to get on the internet, where does "my friend" have to go in NIS to fix that little mistake?
