I don't dabble a great deal in Unix, and I especially don't delet things in Terminal, so what does rm -rf / do exactly. Obviously it is a delete command given the rm -, but what is it specifically, delete ALL? By the looks of it you are telling terminal to delete anything with / in it, right?

Yep, it's *supposed* do delete everything in the / directory, which mainly is EVERYTHING. I've never done it, so I don't know if it works or not, but it should
hehe. The thing is, when you try to delete a whole directory it will give you a confermation for EACH file, which would take forever. to bypass that you could just do a "\rm -rf /" and that should do it without any questions. Once again, i've never done it so im not too sure what would happen after you type it haha.the RM stands for "remove" (i think) and the -rf flag mainly means "recursive force" and it forces it to do the RM command.
I'm still a linux noob though

Cool. That's the way I understood it all as well. I've only been using linux on and off for about a year and a half, and unix for about two months, so I'm sure you know easily as much as I do.
