Ah... see I don't ever get holidays so I didn't think of that. I think you might be right. They did the same thing before labor day weekend.
It's on a 2 lane highway that you have to use to get between santa cruz and monterey/salinas. It's the only station out there. Makes sense.

This ^ been going since last month. seriously gas stations just have it made. everyone needs it and they purposely raise it do to the fact that they can. There are no shortages and if there were, it doesn't effect all the other gas stations. Veteran's day is around the corner and thanksgiving. I expect gas to surpass 4 bucks by then and then drop afterwards.

Costco = random gas, not always good. I live a few blocks from Costco and I *NEVER* get gas there, no matter what the price is.
I looked at prices in my area and sure enough, they jumped like $0.30/gal overnight.

3.79.
So it jumped over 20 cents in one night then it dropped right back down. WTF?
Short on their property taxes or something? Need a 24 hour bump.
It's crazy how much they can make (the corporations) with one or two day bumps like that. You bump for a 2 day weekend... say 25 cents a gallon.
The average station in california on a busy travel weekend is gonna do 5000 gallons a day. So 10,000 gallons of fuel.
.25 a gallon. $2500 if ADDITIONAL profit per station. Call it 1500 chevron stations in california.
That's $3,750,000 of ADDITIONAL profit in TWO DAYS because they felt like it. And that's if the cost of barrels/production is stagnant. Often times they make these hikes and their cost is actually down at that moment.
And that's only one company. Multiply that by all the stations in the state and you're talking about a LOT of addition money leaving the pockets of californians... but the state doesn't care because they're getting their piece.
