Oh god yes, if there's one thing I can't stand about my ps2, it's the fact that it's fans are louder than my desktop and laptop fans combined.
Another thing to watch out for, some of the release day and first batch PS2s have problems with reading dual layered DVDs and some games with it as well, like Xenosaga. I say some, because I haven't run into the problem yet with mine, which I got on release day...
...if you really want a PS2 that kicks ***, there's always the new japanese LE one with GT4, due out dec. 4th - http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-17-74-d4-71-3.html

The LE would be great but i want a USED regular PS2 that i can play GT4 and some other games with, get bored with it, let it collect dust, then throw it in a box and sell it again.
So.... if anyone has a PS2 they're lloking to sell for >$130-ish (including shipping) that's in good working order PM ME PLEASE!
thanks, eric
BTW how much would the LE go for with the GT4 package just to see if it would be worth it?

er, yeah, sorry, prologue is pretty much a demo, it lets you play on 5 courses seen in most of the demo movies for the game thus far. If you've seen how freaking beautiful they've gotten them from the demo movies, I'd say it's easily worth the 35 bucks for it....gotta have a japanese or modded PS2 though...
As for the price of the LE, you'd be looking at around $270....yeah, LEs aren't for the casual gamer 'n such.
Have you tried the Gamestops or EBs in malls? They usually have lots whenever I go there...seen a few go out the door for about 120.
