wrx/sti exhaust on 01rs???

I have an 01 rs and am wondering if I can use any exhaust components from a wrx or an sti... i was thinking possibly the midpipe and axel back. I know they are different because of the turbo, but I don't know how different. I am willing to customize if I have to, but I just wanted to get some input.

Aye. I have an Impreza L and I had my catback (JGT500 for the WRX) custom fitted and installed for $80 or something at Performance Muffler in Fremont. Like the guys at MPJ said, it'll require to have modifications done to the the hangers. I also needed to have the part connecting to the cat modified and fitted. I am not too sure for your 2.5RS, but yeah, something like that.

If it's 3" piping you gonna be hurtin your RS motor as far as power and torque go. 2.5" is good for our RS's. I wouldn't recomend going any higher then that.

cool, thanks guys..... three more questions though...
1.so what are my cheepest options without doing anything that will hurt the performance?
2.what size piping do the sti/wrx have?
3.do sti/wrx midpipes fit the length from my cat to axel with only hanger modification necessary?

Yeah. What he said. I actually knew that it was going to hurt my perfomance before I had the thing installed. Personally, I haven't noticed anything.

Rau is probably right. Get a STi exhaust and have them put that on for you. No matter what, you are going to fork over some money to have the hangers moved. I thought I saw that a vendor had a 2.5RS JGT500 for $300 and free shipping. I can't seem to find it though.

Yeah, but if you get a catback for a WRX, it'll cost you about $80-$100 to have it modified to fit on your 2.5RS. Well, that is what I paid.

Piping size for the STi is... I thought it was 2.5". I am not sure.

As for your last question, the length is different, so that would be one thing that the muffler shop would need to work on.
