wrx in flames :(
wrx in flames :(
got in an accident this morning, i'm fine, but car looks to be totaled.
the whole engine bay lit up into flames. it was sad standing there watching my car burn. i'll post some pics when i find the software to download photos from my phone.
although i read here more than i post, i've learned a lot from this forum in the past 4 years. just wanted to thank you all. i just hope i can afford insurance to get another wrx after this.
anyway, here are some last questions i have:
now that my car is in the tow yard, how do i go about in salvaging parts off my car? am i allowed to do that
do i have it towed to a body shop? or do i hire a mechanic to do that on the spot?
once i get these sorted out, i'll have parts for sale:
-HKS Carbon Ti
-Cusco RSB
-Perrin rear endlinks
-Work emotion CR bronze, with pirelli p zero nero, 80-90% tread. (3 curbed, 1 charred, 1 bent w/ no tire)
-set of stockers, some wheels curbed
-Cusco zero-2e, rear with spring rate 10.
-NEW cusco rear strut bar, not installed yet
-Used HKS catless downpipe, got from another member, but not installed on my car
- (2) NEW oil filer w/ crush washer
and whatever undamaged off the the car like seats, steering wheel, spoiler...

that must have been crazy man. glad you're ok. This is the second one I've heard of recently. I am seriously thinking of mounting an extinguisher under my seat or in the back somewhere. least have a chance at saving the car.
as for your parts. Whatever insurance isn't going to pay you for you have rights to. If you have receipts I'd let them keep everything the insurance agrees to pay for. you'll get more money that way. what they don't want to pay for you can pull out but you'll also have to reinstall the stock parts I believe.
So you can go that rought or buy the car back and part it out. There are a lot of salvageable small parts...trunk, rear quarte panel, interior....if any is not burned or what not...etc.

Wow sorry to hear, but glad you're okay.
Buy back from the insurance and sell off parts if it's worth it for you. There's always a need for more used parts.
