Would you participate in a rally?

For those of you that have been on this forum for 5 years or more, you probably know that I organize and compete in Rally events.

Lately though I have noticed a whole lot of newcomers to the forum, and I figured it might be worth asking what any of you think-

What comes to mind when you hear the word Rally?

If the only thing you think of is WRC- type stuff, flat out on closed roads, that is OK, for you I would ask- is that something you would;
a) go to spectate at?
b) go to volunteer/work at?
c) go to compete in?
d) stay the heck away from

If you know about any of the other types of Rally (gimmick, A/B, TSD, Poker run, open road race)....
would you;
a) check one or two out and see what they are about?
b) love to get into but don't have the time or money?
c) already know what they are about and would love to come and play?
d) already know what they are about and not have any interest?

I am asking because I am working on two events- the first is the North Nevada Rally to be held June 21st which is a closed course stage rally north of Reno, and the second will be the 6th annual Redwood Rendezvous Road Rally Adventure Drive and Campout (date TBD) which is more in the fun-run TSD category.

For the NNR we need volunteers, for the RRRRADC we need participants.

But in general, I am curious to know what the newest crop of i-clubbers thinks about "Rally"

Count me in for the Redwood drive. I'm sure all the local norcal guys on dirtyimpreza.com will be down for the drive as well.

For the NNR, will spectators be allowed?

For the first question, A, B, C

For the second I definately would and do compete, but it comes down to when I have the time and money available, time being something I don't have a lot of now.

That's great, its always a really fun adventure, and the camping out bit is- without fail, truly hilarious.

Technically this year, no, but there are a TON of side road blockages where we need to have "volunteers" park at.
There winds up being a couple hours of waiting around, but its probably the best way to get close to the action, take photo's and stuff.

It's not that we really expect a lot of intruders, but we need to make sure the roads are secure.

In exchange for volunteering, you'll get to drive the stage roads (no not at race speed, but still, some of us think that's worth volunteering for in itself) a T-shirt, lunch and a sunburn (we'll probably be able to provide sunscreen too).

If you are genuinely interested; sign up at www.northnevadarally.com and we'll put you to "work".

RRRRADC, We spoke about this in Mexico. I'm interested in this. I need more info . As stated I don't want to be F'n up my car for a bit of fun. I can do that without mandatory paint repair and body work.

To echo Pete's words, for the NNR the best way to watch this year is to volunteer. Free t-shirt, plus you'll get to drive the roads (at sub race speed, but should be fast enough to thrill just about anyone short of a competition driver). And since its a small rally, there won't be much "work" at all.

Come on out, we'd love to have you.

Pete, you know I'll be on the RRRRADC again this year! Last year was a blast and maybe I can get the little lady to come out as well. That may also mean we'll actually be taking the TSD part a bit more seriously this time
