a word to the inexperienced (tire stuff)

if you get tires that are 20mm wider than your factory tires, and you still have your factory suspension, be ready to hear some tire rub.

in all the months that i've driven on my 225 tires with my coilovers, i've only once ever hear tire rub... i wont say where i was, or how fast i was going.

but today, i took 'the scenic route' to get home after work, and i was being very mellow versus how i'd usually drive that sort of road. i was given an unexpected dosage of tire rub on the factory suspension. SUCKY.

so yeah...

camber doesn't matter with stock suspension. if you put more negative with camber bolts you're going to hit the strut even harder.

There is your problem. Maybe throw in a fender roll as well...

hmm, so you mean anything greater than 225 on an RS/WRX? Stock on an STi is 225 wide, so 245 should be the limit without rubbing, according to this rule of thumb.

<----245's here and I've had 2 different wheels and 3 different tire brands with no problems at all. You just have to roll the fenders, easy fix.

Well its the same exact chassis so why should that matter. Oh and I sold my old wheels with 245's to member for his WRX and he just rolled his fenders so that pretty much busted this myth.

I have WRX suspension on my STi (02-03), but also had the 245's with my old STi suspension, they are soo similar its not even funny. The fronts are identical (minus the spring rates obviously).
