Not really actually. Pioneer realized they had a problem with this so they made it so that when you want to go to a location you pop in your cd and it automatically saves your root and all different possible directions to get to it. including POI's and gas stations, etc etc.

That way you dont need the CD. You technically only need it when you are telling it to go to a direction. Then you can take it out and put in a DVD

let me interrupt my cool music listening experience while i'm driving to pop in a map dvd disc because i got lost and need directions...sounds great for $999.

I suspect they keep with this model because they expect many people to be using the iPod or AUX in connector rather than a normal CD.

Im intrested in where that guy who posted about the group buy is getting them from...

With something like a D3 you need to get it from an authorized legit source, no "Fell off the back of a truck" style haha

Why? I've NEVER purchased electronics from 'authorized retailers*'.
