Garmin Streetpilot 2610 with a 2GB flash card will get you the continental US. Better than these integrated ones IMO.

If you go with one like this whether it be the Magelin or the Garmin, do yourself a favor and get one of the NON-harddrive based ones, buy a flash card, and load the maps yourself.

I have a DDX7015 (albeit without nav.....yet) installed in my 02 WRX Wagon. Very pleased with it!

Also have a sub (10" in a box, mounted to the rear strut tower brace brackets), couple of amps under the seats, and am working on the door speakers. And finally, I picked up the Kenwood DS-P901 last week (off ebay on a "lowball" bid that actually won!) which will give me Dolby 5.1 surround . Hope to get a chance to finish up the install in the next 2-3 weeks. I will be using the Clarion center channel speaker mounted in the WRX dashtop gauge pod.

Once I get things done and tuned, I'll be sure to "demo" the car at UCKK and other meets for anyone who wants to see/hear it!

I'm keeping an eye out for a good deal on the Kenwood Nav system (which completely integrates with the head unit), but haven't bought yet and am not in any hurry. I'll wait till someone wants to sell it to me cheap

I've heard the Alpine NAV unit is better than Kenwood...but how much better I'm wondering

I can get the kenwood NAV for about half the price of the Alpine =\

I'm wondering

what have you heard?

The thing I like about the Kenwood option is it is COMPLETELY integrated with that head unit. Meaning it plugs right up (on the data bus, NOT just on the A/V inputs) and the touchscreen stuff all works. No futzing around trying to get incompatible stuff to work with each other.

No idea which is better as the nav system in the stand-alone sense.

Oh yeah....the "undocumented" feature of that head unit is that you can burn MP3 files to a DVD disc and play them in the head unit. This is despite the manual saying explicitly it WON'T work . Having about 70 HOURS of music on ONE disc is pretty sweet!

How is the management of the music on that DVD disc - does it maintain folder structure? Read ID3 tags?
