Paul : it is a device that lets you load in different maps in the ECU. Among the maps is an STX legal map.....which I WILL be running on Sunday
. Should be good for 15-20 HP over the stock ECU that I've had to swap in for the first 2 events this year
Rus is getting REALLY fast this year. Felt like I've driven decently, but Rus found something over the winter and got that much faster

My guess is you won't see 4.9 sec 0-60 on Stage 1, but low 5's is possible.
Stage 2, I could see 4.9 seconds if you're willing to beat up your clutch a bit

Got it today, installed this evening. For those curious, I pre-ordered on Nov 18 2003 (first day of preorders was Nov 17) and I ended up with unit #0018.
Initial Install takes about 20-30 minutes. You have to plug in a couple of connectors under the dash (supplied with the AccessPort), do the Initial Flash of your Base Map (takes about 10 minutes for just that), and then unplug the connectors.
Once you have the base map installed, you can change the "Real Time" map in 8 SECONDS! And it can even be done with the car running
....literally changed to the "Valet" mode while at a stoplight, and confirmed that the car wouldn't go over 4000 RPM immediately afterwards. Changed right back to a GOOD map though
.
If you disconnect the battery, you lose the "Real Time" map and it reverts back to the Base Map you programmed. Since there is an "anti-theft" base map available that won't even let the car RUN, you could use that as your base and then if a thief tries to steal the car (with you having both base AND real-time maps programmed to "anti-theft") then they aren't starting the car, no matter what. And you can easily set it so your "base" map is anti-theft but the "real time" is your normal running map, so you can drive it just fine with the "no run at all" base map.
Whew
At any rate, I already downloaded the STX legal map from Cobb's website and loaded it as one of my real-time maps into the AccessPort (which you do via the serial port on a PC). Very straightforward and only took a couple of minutes.
The AP can also read/clear codes (Check Engine Lights), and can function as a real-time boost gauge.
So, looks like I have a fun new toy to play with
