Wish I lived near Virginia this week...
Backstory,
Col. Van T. Barfoot, Served in three wars, oldest living Medal Of Honor winner in WW2 and only ever Native American MOH winner.
Earned his MOH by single handedly taking out 3 machine gun nests with just an SMG and grenades that kept the rest of his company pinned down all day . Later the same day he took out a tank and an artillery position, by himself again, and still had time to get back and help his wounded buddies later. When they told him he was getting the MOH for his actions and trip back to Washington for the ceremony, he refused it unless he could receive it in the field, he would not leave his men.
Thats 100% hard ****ing core.

yep, the retired Colonel, the war hero, the guy they named a ****ing highway for in his county, is not allowed to raise the american flag at his home every morning because of, you guessed it, some bull**** home owners association. Jeezus.
Seriously, Ive heard some pretty ****ed up HOA BS pulled on people, usually about towing peoples cars that dont look running, or too many christmas decorations, but this takes the cake!
Theyre having a protest this Friday when its supposed to be taken down. Oh I wish I WOULD be there! You know, I dont live in one of these bull**** gated communities, and I hope I never do, all I ever hear about these horrible HOAs is that they are run by bored retires on an ego trip that have nothing better to do than to harass anyone that doesnt fit into their little cookie cutter vision of a community, the old "you kids get off my lawn" type that were given a bit of power. Does anyone here live in a place like this? I feel sorry for you. As a prior service myself, this **** just makes my blood boil.

Wow, my heart died a little inside too. Come on, he's a freaking veteran... how could ANYBODY say that? What the hell is wrong with some of the people in this country. sigh*
I mean, even if it broke the rules, he's a 90 year-old MOH, at that the Last one left... They care so much about endangered species and animals going extinct but wtf? don't care about people who had the honor of serving our country and risking their lives? WtFFF?? BS

This story reminds me of that woman from TEXAS that worked in a hospital as an administrator. She had a kid(s) in Iraq, and had a flag hung up on her wall in an office that she shared with an immigrant. Well, the immigrant complained, and she was forced to take the flag down, so she sued.
