Will a TBE with a high-flow cat pass smog?

...on my STI?

I'm selling it and I guess I need to get it smogged. I have a vishnu TBE with the single high-flow cat. Should I worry about it failing? Does anyone recommend a place I could bring it to? Will they do a visual inspection and fail me straight out?

Yes. It will fail visual. Maybe you can tell them the original one was damaged during a rally and you had to replace it before you have them test it. That might work.

i thought they didn't do visuals. Don't they just plug into your ecu and as long as you don't have any CELs then you pass?

Nope. Most will look under the car.

Replacing your cat (even with a more efficient one) is not legal in California, so it shouldn't pass smog.

NO you don't.

There is no need to smog a car for transfer of ownership until it is 5 years or older. ...

And no the Vishnu TBE won't pass if the smog. tech knows what hes doing,...but that won't matter since you don't need a smog

Note: Smog certifications are not required for transfers that occur for any motor vehicle that is four or less model years old. A smog transfer fee will be collected from the new owner.

Since smog test are done on the dyno, but since our cars our AWD do they do the sniffer test, visual test and ECU? Or do they just check the ECU for CELS and visual test?
