wierd smell. need help

wierd smell. need help

searched already. my car is a 03 wrx w/9k. when ever i down shift or redline tha car, car smells like fart n that **** is nasty. it doesnt have a gasly smell like an exhaust leak. can somebody help me?

probably the clutch or gear oil

those are the two things that i can think of that smell like a$$

gear oil spraying outta the front halfshafts and spraying onto the exhaust?

I had that once...

I've had that problem before. It goes away after awhile. Smells kinda like burnt engine oil or something.

thanx for tha replies. i jus put in gear oil n tha clutch seems fine. maybe it could be burnt oil cuz there was some oil over tha down pipe. thanx.

You're leaking gear oil outta the halfshaft seal, just like I was.

This is a warranty issue, I've had to have it taken in like twice within 20k miles, PITA!

i dunno if i could take it in. when i bought tha car, it was missin a bunch of stuff n ive replaced it wit aftermarket. n tha previous owner welded tha exhaust piping to tha down pipe. so i gotta get that fixed to. wen u bring it in, wut do they replace? jus tha seal?

If your car is still under warranty, and you have all your cats still installed, then you should be fine.

I don't know of a dealership you can bring your car to if you don't have all your emissions control equipment intact.

If you let this go on, you will start to see smoke coming outta your hood scoop, and your tranny may wear excessively due to oil loss.

thanx. there was a lil smoke comin out of my hood, but then it stopped cuz i put tha turbo heatshield on.
