**** a 240. no offense, I'm not much of a fan of the 240's unless they're the 97/98's. Even at that I'm still ehh about em. They're the honda's of the drift world.

I have been but kinda agree with azer408, but then again they are pretty cheap and easy to mod so maybe.

yea the thing about them e30's is that they're all old and will need maintenance at one point or another.

300zx. Twin turbo if you can. If well maintained, they do last a long time. I think you could get a decent one for 9k to 7k.

Yea I'd stay away from the rotary engines, get a civic or something really reliable.

Ha! Good luck working on one. Somehow they managed to build this car with the engine being larger than the engine bay.

Also, good luck finding one that isn't all riced out, has 150K miles, just beat to hell, or isn't an 4 spd auto.

That's pretty funny. The N/A 13B is one of the most reliable engines I have ever heard of. One of the only I know of that you can accumulate 300+ THOUSAND miles on the stock engine. You can blow a rotor and STILL drive around on half the engine (oh yes you can).

The thing is, once you turbocharge a rotary, you better install a "CHANGE ENGINE SOON" light because you will get 20-50k max out of it. The FD is one of my favorite cars to drive EVER but you better have a backup engine and never rely on it. An '85 GSL-SE though? I would choose that over a Civic or a Miata any day of the week not just because it would be more reliable, but because it has a hatch, it's RWD and wicked fun to drive. Yes, Miatas are RWD and are very fun, but a 1st gen RX-7 is waaaay more fun.

Rotaries are expensive to replace and you can't really rebuild one at home. Once the case is worn you may as well get a new one, new engines aren't cheap. As mentioned above, they are not good engines for boost.

Miatas are much cheaper to run. If you want to drift in one, stock power isn't going to be enough but boosting a Miata is relatively easy and cheap (engine is already built for boost and transmission is quite strong).

I love GSL-SEs, I'd rock one. I've owned 3 first-gen RX-7s, they are fun cars.
