I dont want to post up a pic just to have that be the reason someone got their car stolen. Just like in the spotted thread it bothers me we give almost gps locations of peoples cars, sometimes with pictures of where that car parks all day long.
Or the fact that police shop online themselfs. Hey look at that car. Ohh thats not legal. Or look at that plate. ok kids, tag n bag.
The internet can be used against you.

I understand where you're coming from but dont you do gatherings and part installs at your house? If someone was bent on stealing your car, they'd find out where you live.
Im not trying to **** you off but the logic is pretty flawed if you have a flashy car and make it no secret what you have under the hood and where you live. Then again I dont have 30k invested in my car so maybe thats why.

If a thief was looking at a license plate online to retrieve information about the owners whereabouts, wouldn't it be logical to say the thief would only need to SEE your license plate when you are driving your car and remember that for later?
Why would they have to stalk you home.....
That's not what happens when they merely read the plate online....
I swear some of you people that post on here don't have half a brain....

While I don't think there is any rampant misusage of car license plates in pictures on line, that's not to say that there won't be some new thing that opens up in the future.
This is the same reason people don't post names in blogs, etc. Not that there is an immediate danger, but just to have no google trail, etc. Paranoid? Over cautious? Maybe. But with the info blacked out, or just plain not posted, there's less chance of any future unforseen problems.
Bottom line, if you're too lazy to do it, then don't. If it's worth the time to reduce your net presence, do it.

with technology its easy for people to pull out a phone and snap a pic of your plate when you are parked or at a light. best way to prevent theft is park in a garage, behind a gate, good alarm, motion sensor lights by your house, bust a cap... jk but in all seriousness if someone wants your stuff that bad they will find a way to jack you. it sucks plain and simple.

I learned this from modding Hondas and from the honda forums. If they want your car or what you have bad enough. They'll take it.
I remember when K20 swaps first started becoming attainable. I guy in Milpitas had a Integra Type-R with a K20, recaros, roll cage, ITBs, volks, every suspension bar, and the most bad *** suspension available. Well he got his car "repossessed" at great mall. Funny thing was his car was already paid off, he just got jacked.
Same thing happened to another guy who lived in this $1M+ gated community. they got his car to. So if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen.
Doesn't mean you shouldn't try to make it harder by hiding you plate, but there are so many other things you can do to avoid getting your car jacked that I couldn't care less about hiding my plate.

So having a good alarm on the house/garage and car, CC TV system and a few other things. I lessen the chance. Last guy that tried to rob me, Almost got away with it because the police saw me in my own video beat the guy pretty hard. I then found the 2nd guy a few days later and followed up with the same. Most theifs are people that you know.
If there is any movement in the camera, I get a page to my cell where I can watch you from or just put you on the big screen TV. So I can watch you while I load my magazines.
If they want it they will get it. So make it hard for them.

These are just a few. But I tell you.. nothing beats a cell page when you are in another state. And when you go to look, You find your ex trying to move things. And getting stuck in the lawn in rain.
Making that "Hi what you up too" phone call with out them knowing is all sorts of fun. Because it always leads to the "nothing really honey"
Till you tell them to look up and smile for the camera. These photos are off my droid phone. :-)
Oh and the lawn didnt live

haha
