I have nothing against folks not wearing seatbelts.. Let Darwin do his thing... BUT..
Think of the incredible number of auto accidents in the states.. Already a major killer..
Now add to that the number of jack-holes that will start plugging up our emergency services because of lack of seatbelt.. Or the additional volume that trauma units in hospitals will be dealing with..
And lawsuits too - sure.. Like the recent soccer mom in her land yacht that backed over her kid and tried to sue the auto maker for not putting backup cameras / sensors on it for her as it was plainly their fault...
Bottom line.. I don't mind if you want do die for stupid - but I sure as hell don't want to pay for it out of my taxes and healthcare rates - or suffer any further delays in emergency services responding to real emergencies instead of just stupid.

democractic laws, want to now control what we eat, want to tell you what is good for you and bad for you, what not to do and what you have to do. what is healthy, what is not, how much to exercise each day...this is california as well. world leaders in liberal laws.
similar to elementary school food now that's going to be controlled/regulated. Do parent's really not give a sh*t what their kids eat? Why should the gov't care if parents do not? ohh... it's cause obamacare is going to cost us (taxpayers) a sh*tton of money when all the youth grow older, fatter, and unhealthier.
we don't want to let darwinism take it's course. we want the rich to survive. i.e. americans. all motives are $ driven and very little else drives American motives. (at least since the Vietnam War)
minors? minors are an adult's responsibility, if a minor smashes a window, the adult is legally responsible for paying for it, not the minor.
especially if we are going to have nationalized obamacare, we MUST have laws like this, or we all suffer. (those who pay taxes that is)
any intelligent citizen knows full well that the law does a **** poor job of protecting the public though. there needs to be a clear understanding of the differences between correlation and causation.
we need more jobs? we should give people hammers and pay them to break windows, then hire people to go and fix them... problem solved... <nododgy>
before any flamefest starts, these are only my opinions and nothing else. i am no poli sci major. sorry, i'm a glass half empty, realist type.

this is a horrible topic but it is very dangerous for bodies to be flying around during a collision, they say when one person isnt wearing a seatbelt with others in the car who are that that one person usually dies and also kills another due to knocking heads with eachother.

I honestly don't know how people can drive around without a seat belt. I don't feel comfortable sitting in a car without being secured.

What do you think will happen to your private health insurance premiums when other people on the same plan are injured or are unhealthy and require medical attention? The exact same thing that will happen to your taxes with public health care... The only difference being that you no longer have a money hungry corporation deciding what/if/why/when you get your healthcare and when to drop you from the policy entirely if you're costing them too much.
Sorry this is way off topic, so I'll stop there

but i understand the reasons for the seatbelt law, and think it's probably a good thing for all of American society.

with this said, we must outlaw anything bad for humans. alcohol, tabacco, high fructose corn syrup, ****, any food over a certain calorie count, yellow #5, any car over a certain HP rating, etc. why should our government get to decide and not us?

Just for clarification, my point was not that these things should be legal/illegal. Just that you will see the same effect at your wallet weather you have private or public healthcare.
