Why have a seat belt law for adults?
I understand protecting minors and I'm for that.
But why do we need to force adults? Now that we are all informed how much safer seat belts are, it's really just darwinism now.
Then again... I can see that the residual effects of having a crippled person means less taxes, less productivity, and adults unable to care for those who depend on them. But other than this, I'd say there's a lot of morons who could naturally select themselves out and society would be better for it.

Kansas man goes to court over homemade seatbelt

From the 'We Almost Missed It'' file comes word Kansas man has set about testing his state's new seatbelt law. Kansas has just joined the handful of other states that have moved not wearing a seatbelt while driving up to a primary offense, meaning that law enforcement officers can pull over and cite offenders simply for failing to buckle up. According to KWCH CBS 12, Paul Weigand says that he wants to challenge the law because he believes wearing his seatbelt should be up to him. Since the law says that an individual simply has to wear a seatbelt, Weigand has apparently taken to donning a seatbelt that he made himself around his waist at all times. The law apparently makes no mention of the seatbelt needing to be factory equipment nor that the belt needs to actually be fastened to the vehicle.
Not surprisingly, Weigand was cited under the new law and decided to fight the citation. A district judge decided earlier this month that the seatbelt crusader can take his case to court. According to the report, Weigand knows that he's poking fun at the law, but believes that seatbelt use should be up to individuals. He claims to have a phobia of being trapped in a crashed vehicle. If we don't have a law requiring them, then people will sue because we don't have a law about it.
"My husband was an idiot and didn't wear his seatbelt while driving drunk and now he is dead because he crashed into a crowd of people and was launched out of the windshield. He wouldn't have died if there was a law."

similar to elementary school food now that's going to be controlled/regulated. Do parent's really not give a sh*t what their kids eat? Why should the gov't care if parents do not? ohh... it's cause obamacare is going to cost us (taxpayers) a sh*tton of money when all the youth grow older, fatter, and unhealthier.
we don't want to let darwinism take it's course. we want the rich to survive. i.e. americans. all motives are $ driven and very little else drives American motives. (at least since the Vietnam War)
minors? minors are an adult's responsibility, if a minor smashes a window, the adult is legally responsible for paying for it, not the minor.
especially if we are going to have nationalized obamacare, we MUST have laws like this, or we all suffer. (those who pay taxes that is)
any intelligent citizen knows full well that the law does a **** poor job of protecting the public though. there needs to be a clear understanding of the differences between correlation and causation.
we need more jobs? we should give people hammers and pay them to break windows, then hire people to go and fix them... problem solved... <nododgy>
before any flamefest starts, these are only my opinions and nothing else. i am no poli sci major. sorry, i'm a glass half empty, realist type.

Too many people blame gov't/media for their own suckiness.
