This is why CA is screwed
Most of California is screwed on this note. It trickles down.
California is the biggest state by far in the US and we kind of lead the way when speaking about the rest of the nation. If you think it's only one or two cities that has this issues you're missing the bigger point. If these cities have gotten away with this amount of turmoil, imagine our state, and imagine the country as a whole.

Having lived in Santa Clara, San Jose, and Campbell since the day I was born, I've watched some cities grow and get nicer (Los Gatos/Saratoga/Monte Sereno) and watched San Jose hit the fan and explode. Politicians build themselves a new City Hall while laying off police and fire. They paint new bike lines and disrupt the insane flow of traffic in downtown. They leave some roads on the East Side unpaved for decades while the asphalt crumbles and then add in safety sidewalk corners with those stupid slipper plastic/bumpy things all over other parts of the city. They pay "GroundWerks" tons of money to hose down the sidewalks and "clean up the streets" but, again, lay of the cops who actually do the cleaning up of our streets.
San Jose is being mismanaged. Our neighborhood has had more break-ins in the past few months than the previous few years. And according to the neighborhood watch guy at SJPD, for the entire south area of San Jose, on a busy day, there are four - yes... FOUR - patrolling officers.
It's getting ridiculous.

San Jose is getting far too big to be patrolled properly, especially with the wages of PD. Also, PD is being rather misused at times. I see them just chilling and talking for like half an hour to an hour. Not exactly doing anything... In fact, last time I had a baseball game, they showed up to ask some guy to leave and then stayed there for ~35minutes just watching. Not giving warnings, or doing any paper work. Just standing around, watching. I know it's not all cops, but I wish they would be a bit more efficient when on the clock sometimes. They get paid too much money to be shooting the ****, but then again, don't most of the highest paid people in the world get paid for not doing much?
