i just never hear a nor-cal native say frisco.

i live in SF.
work in Mountain View, and drive 101 just about every day.

It's common to hear it once you get out of the Bay Area. In Sac, I hear it all the time. It's always been the City to people who grew up there or have lived in the area for a long enough period of time. Herb Caen even wrote about it in his column many years ago.

Oh, and I have lived in NorCal my whole life and I have always used Frisco and only have used "the city" when shadily refering to my current location.

if you mean me, then no. Born and raised in The City....just said "Frisco" b/c I thought it was funny as I never refer to my home as such. Grew up in Visitacion Valley, on Sunnydale Ave...near Geneva Towers that no longer exists. I even have the demolition on video.
