who neglects their old cars too!?

well, old car needs loving' too!

This is my old 98 Mazda Protege I gave to my fiancee as a daily commuter car. Just like most of the typical driver, she doesn't care much about the car and doesn't even bother to wash it. I think this car gets washed 3 time a year or something. It's a silver car, so you can't tell much by looking at the pictures. But it was NASTY before I got on it.

more pictures here

Nice work there Leo!

I don't have any pictures handy, but my Audi suffers from that crappy 80's vintage clearcoat peeling that so many German cars are affected by.

Any suggestions for that?

-apart from Maaco/Earl Schieb, which is probably where I'm headed when/if I ever get the decrepit POS back out of the shop...

Thanks Pete. I honestly don't know how much it would run for on the clear coat. I used to go to Carmatt collision down in Santa Cruz. But after my last visit there, I might have to look for a new shop myself.

prior to my 2002 wrx and eventually, my 04 STi, i drove a 1990 toyota 4runner.

in fact, i just tried to smog it this weekend. and failed...

for a while, i felt like the 4runner, was like a old wife that has stayed with me through thick and thin.

and the subaru was like a new mistress that i paid all my attention and time to.

I used to take meticulous care of the Civic before I got the STI, but it definitely gets less attention now. It seems that I'm always either washing or washing+waxing the Subie. Don't want to spend all weekend doing car detail. :-/

I drove down to San Diego the other week and took the Civic. Didn't wash it or clean it out until Saturday. It was covered in bugs and some HARD waterspots that I couldn't get off. Needs to be clayed to clean back up. That's a full day... (wash, dry, clay, wax). Stupid car's 10 years old.

*sigh*
