I just got back from Boise, ID from vacation. A buddy owns what is most likely the largest gun shop in the state there. Residents there can easily by ARs, AKs, .50 rifles, H&K SP89s....hell you can still buy pre-ban hi-cap mags. Which is also a felon to purchase in CA. He had 2 uzi's in his shop to many to count AR-15 types, same for the AK's, SKS, even some H&K G3 types. So when you say "NO" do you mean in CA only? If you think CAs assualt weapons ban applies to other states. You are VERY wrong. The Fed. law and the CA law are 2 different things.

By "peace officer" I meant that they could purchase them for their line of work. I should have been a little more clear.

All I am say'n is if you own firearms in CA. You had better stay up to date on the laws, or else you can very easily become a Felon.

Too bad i don't have a scanner i have a few good photos of me. One with a m24 (real one not airsoft) and me in a guille suit sitting in the back of a LMTV.

And a few other black and white pics with spotters and myself shooting M82A1 (again the real ones) at a support by fire position about 1100 meters away.

Oh an SKS's are still legal because the magazine is attached

Almost right.

Fixed box mag SKSs can be legal. Forget about detachable mag ones.

California Firearms laws 2004

Yes there are legal versions, but simple changes will make them illegal in CA. Even adding a thumb hole or pistol grip stock will make it illegal in CA.

CA is so sad. You can get busted if you even loan your Hi-Cap mags out to a buddy at the range!

I agree that CA gun laws are **** poor and i've talked about it before in these forums a few times

illegal modification of any kind to any weapon is well... illegal of course. All SKS's are the same (unless modified) and differ from chinese to russian. They all shoot 7.62x39 russian, have a hollow buttstock for a cleaning kit, attached magazine, and bayonet (if you're lucky). Modification of any weapon to make it triple tap, have a detached magazine etc is against he law. ALL sks rifles are the same and there's nothing dangerous or "pre-ban/illegal" about them in their orginal design. I owned 2 (recently sold one for $380 in the last two months).

Pre-ban weapons are a lot like cars. if you mod them then the dealer CAN void the warranty. likewise that weapon CAN be illegal with a pistol grip, flash hider etc. Hell, i even got questioned when i had "for gov't & law enforcement use only" on my 30rd magazines when there's NO material difference in design... this happened at cordova range last year.

Just look at all the mods for a ruger 10/22.. im sure daniel knows and was forced to consider "other' mods (if any) when purchasing items

Now i have to worry about 2 mechanical safties and a "trigger loaded indicator" for ALL pistols by 2006. How ghey is that? And you can thank the liberals for that sir!

Guns don't kill people... dangerous minorities... opps... people do!

As a heart attack my friend.

Although i purchase 1911's (which originally have 2 mechanical safties) i'll have a chamber indicator light that says "it's loaded" just incase i was too lazy to educate my children on how to properly use my firearms. And your glocks wont just have the trigger saftey but a thumb saftey and trigger loaded indicator. very lame. Oh and you MUST purchase a gunlock with purchase of weapon in CA now! All you have to do is buy a cheapo trigger lock and keep the receipt for future gun purchases OR take it back after the dealer has it on his books.

We brought this up in the Kerry vs Bush thread after getting WAY OT:

Anyway, the bottom line is this state will be rid of ALL firearms in the hands of law biding citizens by the end of this decade. And criminals will be able to grab a snub nose saturday night special .38 or even a MK19 off the black market.

You have it right there. No more guns for the good guys, just the bad guys. Take a long look at Britian....

We were VERY lucky that even the officers helped stop the recent activity. They were try'n to make all guns in CA to be disabled and unable to fire unless a magazine was inserted. That is simply lame. Soon they will make all guns glow BRIGHT red or something and have one of those back'n up dump truck beepers on them. This alarm will go off as soon any type of ammunition is with in 50ft of the weapon...
