If everyone could drive like Solberg or Schumacher (or play like Jordan or Bonds) no one would give a crap... and you wouldn't be asking this question. But the truth is, I think very few people really understand what it means to do the amazing things they do (myself included). I have a little idea because I've tried some of those things and I've read a lot about the skills involved. That's really more than most people ever do before they just start talking out of their asses, and its not much. I do, however, know enough to appreaciate the level of supreme talent that they enjoy. Even something at stupid as drag racing takes immense skill... I'd love to see you pilot a 4-second topfuel dragster. I'll be sure to watch from 1/2 a mile away.

The number one reason why no one on this board, I dunno maybe with the exception of someone like Gary Sheehan, can even come close to Solberg (etc.) is because of a gross lack of experience and practice. There are few prodigies in history when it comes to physical skill.

...sorry to make u angry just wanted to see what people said, =\, just entertaining *shurgs*....but on the other hand i agree with what u said, but i think there is always someon out there who thinks they got what it takes, some just dont either know, dont bother trying, no money, no ambition. to be honest i am sure if i had time and money i could be a rally driver (wrc). we all have hidden talents, sometimes we just dont know.... but this was just a random thread so lets just have fun with it shall we?

I don't know about besting Petter, but I'd vouch that my friend Arkady (Arrkash here) could take anyone here on this board.

He has a ton of raciing experience with a super-high HP mustang, and he flat-out owns on the backroads.

He was jumping at the opportunity to do that Bear Creek Road challenge someone posted about a month or so ago, but they cancelled it

If anyone here is down to hit somebackroads with us, I'm down, and I know that he would be.

and I also forgot to mention you, and btw, we're stil waiting to take you to some local backroads bro!

What I meant to saw was that I have complete confidence that he'd either hold his own with the best from this board, or beat them. I really don't mean to sound cocky, after all, I'm talking about him and not myself!

And this comes from being the co-driver, many times, in his 440whp road-race mustang, through sweepers at over 170mph...

Oh yeah and he's a ****ing nutcase even in his comparitively slow WRX.

I'm not angry. I was bored at work so I decided to point out the obviuos. This is fun for me.

As for Christian and Aaron... I know Aarons put in time and experience - I'm really hard pressed to think that anyone on i-Club who does not race on tarmac for a living is as good as someone who does. You said it yourself, "If I had the time and money"... if you had the time and money you couldn't just hop into a prep'd car and whoop Petter Solberg. First you'd spend lotsa time getting as good as him. I'm not even hinting that its 100% impossible and Solberg is God. He's just got an advantage on everyone of us who doesn't do what he does day in and day out. Like I said, there are few prodigies in history when it comes to physical skill.

Who here on i-Club, besides Gary Sheehan, has anywhere near the expereince?

I do, I've been to an autocross, and been driving for like a year

Seriously tho, I agree with what you said (tho your tone sounded a little negative but that was prolly just me). I idolize petter and all the rally drivers, plus the professional tarmac racers (except Oval track drivers cuz that may take hella skill, but to me its boring; likewise with drag) I mean, they're the best of the best and its their job so they do it nearly everyday. I think it'd be hella fun to be one, but I doubt I could even come close, even with as much experience. I mean they have more than just experience and money or they wouldn't have gone so far. Theres a lot of drivers out there.

But this thread's hella fun/funny. So I was thinking, if he drove backwords I could beat him (with me driving forward)

in any "real" race against Solberg, every person on Nasioc, i-club, clubwrx, and subie board, would lose. period.

And I would bet, if Solberg had several reverse gears, he would probably beat most people "Still if you were driving forward, and him backwards. ;D

Come to think of it, that would fun as hell to go 60+MPH in reverse on dirt!

u can't steer well in reverse tho cuz the turning wheels r in the back of the car and it'd be unstable, at least thats what I've heard. You can drive straight back, but if your going around corners the limit is much closer, and he'd have to look out the back of his car which'd be hard cuz of all the rollbars and ****. but with mutliple gears, it'd prolly be close.

We'd only give him 1 gear tho And then I could say I beat Petter

ok i was thinking about how petter is so much better... ok number one i asked if you could beat petter himself. now we all compared it to him in wrc, no remember he has Mills as a nav, so i am sure if we had detailed notes we could do pretty well.

know lets direct the situation to Thunderhill, could u beat him then?
