Am I? For me, its instant turn off if they take themselves too seriously. Did he overstep his bounds by reaching out, not really knowing his audience and offer to build engines? Sure...thats a little presumptuous. But he wasn't a jerk about it and didn't claim to know everything and that those he reached out to, knew nothing. At least, thats not how it read anyway. I'd simply say thanks. I also might be used to being treated that I'm automotively challenged, being missing a peen and all.

haha my own personal opinion, but maybe we took this a little over board. Even though this is the internet there is something called cyber bullying. Hypothetically, this kid may stumble across this thread and think of us i-clubber as violent and close minded. No hate just saying we need to be mindful of people's feelings. If anything we should welcome him and see what he can actually do. And what he CAN do may help the subaru community for the better.

When you come off saying you can build engines I would like to see credentials. He publically said he worked at a shop but wanted to do this on the side, without a license etc. When people asked he said he had certificates but does not pay EPA, insurance etc Publically. I dunno maybe he went too far by saying this publically? He doesn't work at a shop he works out of his HS's automotive shop.....
