Honestly, Bay Area is just not up to muster IMHO. The "best" in the Bay that I've tried though is probably Santouka in Santa Clara. Santa gets second place, and Himawari and Ramen Club get honorable mentions. Will have to try Dohatsusen. Interesting note: the BEST miso ramen EVARRRRRR used to be Sapporo-ya in SF J-Town, but I think they changed the noodle recipe or something because there's no more koshi in the noodle, it's limp and it sucks now!
P.S. I like really thick, concentrated broth and very al dente noodles, so my choices reflect these preferences. I usually get tonkotsu or miso, or kotteri or paitan if available (not available in the Bay I think).
