Who is the current Best Bay Area Dealer?
So years ago I bought my 2002 WRX from Carlsen Subaru in Redwood City. They were selling them for $500 above invoice to iclub/nasioc members. I called the dealer when i was ready, asked if they had what I wanted in stock, salesman said "we got that", asked him about the invoice+500 price and he said we can do that. I drove down and had my car 30 minutes later.
Now a good friend wants to buy a WRX. Who's doing the good deals?

Thanks for the quick replies!
What prices are people getting them for these days? Are the days of invoice+ pricing gone? What price range should he expect for just a wrx wagon with 5-spd? I see it stickers for $26k+, so $23ish a reasonable goal?

OP, I would do a search and find the threads of people bashing Steven's Creek for bad service, warranty issues, etc. I haven't done business with any of the dealers, so I am giving you my opinion as someone who has read countless threads about stealership experiences.

Yeah I've heard bad things about Steven's creek too. I had a bad experience myself back in 1999 when I was looking at a 2.5RS. They put arbitrary "$4000 Dealer Markup" on the price stickers, I walked out. Maybe it depends on who you talk to, who you deal with, and I maybe they've changed in 11 years. then again maybe not.
i just got my 11 STi from Ike at Downtown Oakland Subaru for $500 under invoice. I know they have a bad rap, but if you know what you want and know the price, they deal with you straight.

I got my WRX for invoice with no hassle from Capitol Subaru in San Jose. I'm sure if your buddy has decent credit, is ready with a down payment and/or trade in, and knows how to communicate he can get an even better deal. Talk to Eugene, he gave me no runaround and I was driving the car home less than an hour after we got back from the test drive.
